The Labrador Retriever is once again the most popular dog breed in Melbourne. Thirteen percent of the 207,864 dogs registered were Labradors, closely followed by the Staffordshire Bull Terrier at 12% and the Maltese Terrier at 11%.
HS5The Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Maltese Terrier were as popular because of lifestyle. As Sylvia Power explained, the choice of dog breed depends on a person's activities and where they reside.

Curious to find out where the most of suburban Labs live? It's not a surprise to find them in Sandringham where these dogs can swim and play at a local dog friendly beach.

Loving, affectionate, even-tempered, Labradors are all-around sporting dogs, highly adaptable, versatile and loyal companions. Check out the photos of Diane Gnieslaw and her bitches Amber and Jodie.
